A bunny?!?!?

I think I've lost my mind! My daughter and I went to the mall today and stopped at the pet store "just to look". Oh, boy! There were LionHead bunnies in the window. They were SOOOO cute. We went inside to look at the puppies and I started asking the clerk about the bunnies. My daughter and I looked at each other and just had to have one. We didn't buy the bunny right then...I wanted to talk to my husband first. When we got home, dd started researching LionHeads. By the time my husband arrived home, she was armed with all kinds of information, including the cost of a cage.

After we discussed it, we decided we would go back to the pet store and hold one just to see how friendly they were. We were hooked. We bought the bunny and then bought the cage! She's so sweet. Hope she stays that way!

On another note, I got to the quilt store today and bought the rest of the fabric for my frog wall hanging. I even got the courthouse step blocks finished. Huge compliment from dd she likes them and thinks I should make a full size quilt out of the same fabrics!

just a little croak

Not much to croak about in the quilting world. I've been too busy with "real" life to spend much time in my studio. I have at least gotten a few applique pieces ready for a wall hanging.

Our son has had a friend over since yesterday evening. They've been busy playing games. I did something I hardly ever do this morning---I fried bacon and made pancakes. Burnt 4 of the pancakes, thus the reason my husband is our breakfast chef on the weekends.

Our daughter has been learning to drive. We ventured out of the parking lot and onto our quiet neighborhood streets. Today, she drove to the library and the drug store. She's not quite ready for the busy streets, but she's doing pretty well. Amazingly, I am staying calm (not one of my strong points).

I didn't get any quilting done this weekend. I did, however, finish some silly fish shaped pillows for my daughter's bedroom. I started these pillows for our family room 12 years ago. We've since moved and they no longer "go" in our family room, but they are the perfect colors for her room and she has a fish tank.

I was thrown back to pre-cell phone days at the local mall on Saturday. The family went to the mall and my daughter and I went one way while my husband and son went another. We had agreed to call when we were ready to meet again. Well, I had left my cell phone at home, and my daughter's phone went dead.....Oh No! whatever were we to do?!??!? We had to actually search each other out! I miss the quiet days of little technology. But, wait, if it weren't for technology, I wouldn't be blogging....hmmmm, maybe I'd be getting something else done. OK, so I do like technology.......most of the time.

I finished Gap Creek (by Robert Morgen). A delightful story of the struggle to live before cars and cell phones and electricity. I felt like I was a fly on the wall watching Julie and Hank struggle to survive.

I've been working on a handpieced quilt that I started 5 or 6 "cough, cough" YEARS ago. I just recently picked it up again thinking that it would keep my hands busy and keep me from snacking.....not working, but I am making progress. I need 266 of these 3"x3" blocks:

I have 143 finished. Yay!

These little blocks will eventually turn into this quilt from the book Leisure Art's Great American Quilts Book Eleven.

( Oops! I'm still figuring out how to use all this technology--guess I can't take a sideways picture.)

I did soooooo well yesterday, that is until I decided to have a margarita and then I got the munchies. Had chips and a spoonful of chocolate frosting. Hopefully, I didn't do too much damage since I had eaten well the rest of the day.

Now, if I can just get myself motivated to exercise. My plan is to walk 3 times per week and to do yoga 3 times per week. OK, I'll do the yoga. I promise. I'm already looking forward to the muscle tightness later on today.

So, last night didn't go as well as I would have liked, but that was yesterday and this is today. I have decided to give up dairy for a few days and see if the post nasal drip goes away. I hope it does and at the same time I hope it doesn't. What will I do without my morning yogurt and my cheese at lunch?!?!?

It's also time to give The Sugar Addicts Total Recovery Program a try again. So far, so good. I had ham and eggs and toast for breakfast and a turkey sandwich (& chips--oops) at lunch. I did resist the birthday cake left from last night-yay me. I've even planned a snack of blueberries, strawberries and a handful of nuts later on. Good and healthy! I figure I better give this another shot, maybe it will help with the depression/anxiety. Especially the anxiety as my prescription has run out and I'm not sure I want to stay on it anymore.

If my dd and her friends stay down in the family room, I will survive. They sound like they are having such fun....Nascar on the Playstation--they all just got their drivers permits--hope they don't think that counts as driving practice.LOL

So here I am again...twice in one day. I went to Wal-Mart today. Saw 3 young women who were all OBESE. One of the gals had a hard time walking. I don't want to EVER be that big. On the way out of the store, I saw a man who had to use oxygen to breath, he was also overweight.

I'm hungry right now and struggling with what to eat. I know I need something because my head hurts. Popcorn sounds good, but that seems to set me off on an eating binge....what to do?
Welcome to my new blog!!! I am sick and tired of being unhealthy, tired and fat. It ends today and I hope this will help...I'll be accountable to all you who read this. I will post musing about my journey to health, my kids, my dog, my husband, quilting, books I read, etc.

I feel like I really got the ball rolling yesterday. My daughter and I kept so busy that I had no time for snacking. I guess that's my ticket to health. OK, so I had french toast for breakfast, but I only had one snack yesterday and that was a bowl of fruit. OK, OK, so I had a margarita, too, but I skipped the DQ my family had after Mass.

Anyway, today will be another busy day. My daughter just turned 15 and is having 3 friends sleep over. I need to hit the grocery store (I promise to buy healthy stuff), and get some cleaning done. Sure hope I have time to get some quilting in, too.
